As a public school mom and CUNY graduate, Iwen is dedicated to keeping education affordable and accessible at all stages of life.

In just her first term, she voted for fully funding public education for the first time in New York’s history, halted in-state tuition hikes for in SUNY and CUNY, secured $40 million for CUNY so that they can continue to open doors for their students, and “turned on the TAP” by increasing the Tuition Assistance Program. This past graduation season alone, Senator Chu attended 19 high school graduation ceremonies, and allocated $5.85 Million for 23 schools in her first term.
